Yoga for the Pelvic Floor

The Yoga for the Pelvic Floor workshop incorporates pelvic education, pelvis mapping, anatomy, gentle yoga poses, restorative movement, breathwork, and meditation to support your pelvic floor.

Modern society has facilitated a lack of awareness and a stigma around the pelvis which has resulted in women’s disconnection from their authentic selves and a repression of their creation power. Yoga for the pelvic floor fosters a reclamation of chakras one through three, which are associated with the pelvis and core and women’s personal strength, and ability to express themselves and vocalize their needs.

Madison has suffered from pelvic floor dysfunction her entire life that presented as chronic constipation, bladder frequency, low back pain, and pain with penetration, but never knew that it was due to her hypertense and weak pelvic floor muscles. She saw many different types of doctors but no one ever suggested addressing the pelvic floor. It was not until she was diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse five months postpartum and she went to see a pelvic floor physical therapist that she discovered the true cause of her pain.

There is a wide gap in women’s health that needs to be bridged. Madison highly recommends that all women – no matter their stage in life- have at least one session with a pelvic floor physical therapist to assess the health of their pelvic floor. (Contact Madison if you’d like referrals!)  It is time women are led back to self-exploration of this vital part of themselves, which is the key to many of their issues, physical and emotional.

Many people know what it feels like to swing their arms or curl their fingers, but rarely do people say that they know what their pelvic floor movements feels like. Most women are cut off from the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is an ignored part of the body that plays such a huge role in your overall health. Tension and or weakness in your pelvis wreaks havoc on your entire body and nervous systems. Trauma, anxiety and heavy emotions are all stored in the pelvis. This workshop will help you practice intentional relaxation and release in your pelvic floor and to learn how to tune into your pelvic floor for connection and healing.

Madison is certified/trained in 13 different styles of yoga including prenatal yoga, gentle yoga, and yoga for the pelvic floor (click here to read more about Madison!) She is passionate about keeping your body safe and creating an inviting and comforting space to connect to your body. YPF is truly an ALL Levels class. All poses are tailored specifically to address your pelvic floor, including areas of the body that have a direct effect on pelvic floor health, such as your rib cage, transverse abdominals, glutes, and hips.

I have taken yoga classes from multiples instructors and Madison’s teaching style is exceptionally calming and encouraging. She is very helpful to step through poses, showing the “correct” form. I’ve been able to correct my form on several poses which always felt a bit “off” for me. Now I know why….I wasn’t using proper technique!  Thanks, Madison!

BRIDGET DESCHAINE

Madison has helped me tremendously through her private yoga instruction.  As an athlete, I have had many injuries in the past, and she has been instrumental in helping me improve my flexibility and mobility.  As a doctor, I fully endorse her and her skills as an instructor.  Not only does she know her material She has a wonderful gift in the way she teaches and empowers her students each and every session.  I highly recommend her to people of all abilities, from beginner to advanced.

I have felt a sense of emotional healing since attending your blue moon yoga session and I would love to take classes with you regularly. You’re great at what you do. And from the depth of my being, thank you for what you do. The universe always delivers what’s necessary with impeccable timing, and I’m grateful I was able to re-introduce yoga into my life with that session.
